There's a few things it could mean. But there's a few other checks you need to make first.

For starters, have a look at the coolant in your coolant tank...if it's got any oil or oilly streaks in it that's not good (in a head-gasket kinda way).

Check what the underside of your oil filler cap looks like, if it looks kinda creamy or pastey or milky, that's not good (again with the head-gasket comment).

Pay particular attention to the old oil next time you do a change. Make sure it's actually oil, and not a strange mix of oil and water.

If there's only a bubble or two I wouldn't be that worried, it's possible, I've had a few air bubbles apear on mine from time to time.

Keep an eye on your gauges (for what they are worth), keep an eye on your coolant level and keep a VERY close eye on your oil quality.

Yeah a 25w60 oil could be a bit heavy, I've got a 20w60 oil in there (quality of the oil is important too, it pays to get good stuff), and I don't have any problems with it. Keep an eye on it (and all the levels) until the next change, then try a 20w60 oil (I'd recommend Penrite HPR30)

20w60 ssems a bit high for an engine that is supposed to run 15w40 doesn't it mouce??

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer?
Understeer is when the driver is scared.
Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.

Nope...you've gotta remember that they were meant to run 15W40 when new. So over time, as things wear, a thicker oil is perfect.

Given that we all (well...most of us) live in places around the country where it's not uncommon to hit temperatures of 30+ for more than 6 months of the year, having a slightly higher second number makes sense as well...because it stops the oil getting TOO thin when it's warmed up.

Remember as oil heats up it typically gets thinner (there's a few exceptions, but not in the automotive world), now that's all well and good, but if the second number is too low the oil pressure will fall through the floor when it's up to full temp. So moving from a 15W40 oil to a 20W60 is perfect for the average VN engine. If you read through all of the obscure Holden literature it actually says down the bottom of one of the oil type charts that under high-stress driving condtions use of a thicker oil is recommended. These condtions would be things like regular towing, driving in hills, driving in hot weather, 'hard' driving. It also goes on to state that as the engines 'age' use of a thicker oil will ensure correct oil pressure is maintained.

20W60 oil made a huge difference to my engine, for the better. Hell...I used to run Castrol Magnatec in it when I first got the car...went through a few oil changes with that junk, then found out the difference that a better quality oil makes. Smoother idle, smoother revs...and it's only $2 difference for 5L. I won't use anything other than Penrite oils now...even managed to convince my g/f to let me put it in her Lancer, she isn't THAT into cars, but she can feel the difference.
