Welcome to the forum, but there's a few things that need to be said first: When posting a thread, posting it in the right section of the forum helps, this is in no way a poll and therefore should not have been put in the 'polls' section, second, use a topic that's more descriptive than "VN", this entire forum is about the VN, so giving us some idea about what you're after will help speed up the responses.

Now that that's all out of the way

Cheap power mods (ie, under $1000)
* Pod Filter, with CAI into a custom airbox (the pod on its own will not 'increase' your power).
* V8 throttle body (again, it won't actually increase your power, but you'll end up with a more snappy throttle response)
* Cat back exhaust (some people swear that it gives them increased power, but I'd wanna see the dyno sheets)
* Full length exhaust (excluding extractors)
* Set of extractors
* Yella Terra Roller Rockers (cost of parts is $900, labour is free if you fit them yourself), has a similar effect to a more lumpy cam
* Altered diff ratio, (again, won't give you increased power, but by god you'll launch harder)
* NOS (massive boost in power when the button is pushed, but not street legal anywhere in Australia)

Expensive mods (ie. more than $1000)
* Supercharger
* Turbocharger
* Twin Turbocharger
* Supercharger AND Turbocharger
* C.O.M.E. Racing engine rebuild
* Modified cam and custom dyno tuned chip
* 5.0L V8 (fits)
* 2JZ Supra Engine (fits)
* VS supercharged V6 (fits)
* 5.7L V8 (may or may not fit, unsure)
* Full port/polish and blueprint of the engine

Keep in mind though, that going fast is okay, but you've got to be able to do it safely. You'd better not be thinking of racing this car on the roads, if you are then I wash my hands of any advice that I've given you.

When you're upgrading the power, make sure that you give it a suspension and brake package that will handle it when you sink your right foot into it. No point having a 300kW VN running on stock suspension/brakes. You'll be fine until you get to a corner. If you're considering any of the 'expensive' mods, at the very least you should look at the VT brake upgrade. I'd also recommend a slightly lower and much stiffer suspension, all from reputable companies (Pedders, Monroe, Whiteline, Kmac...) I do NOT recommend KingSprings if you're going to look at a 'performance' VN. KingSprings are okay for show, but when it actually comes to driving the car, pay a bit extra and get GOOD ones.

I think you will be pushing it abit to get the nos running and tuned under a k. $1200 easy. Just need to remember you just cant stick it on and go. You need a tune and a system that will retard the timing accordingly. Been there, done that. In the long run its actually more expencive then any other permanent power adding mods.

Actually you can pick up dry shot NOS kits for less than $600, they just bolt straight up. Wet shot costs a bit more, and full direct port sequential injection costs the big bucks. Dry shot NOS is easy to setup, that said, it's also the fastest way to kill your engine.

Good way to destroy a few things... fitting NOS with no other mods, I mean. But they do look spectacular when they go.

Be nice to know what engine we're talking about though.

lol not really australias fastest VN but hopefully aussies quickest V6 VN.... Theres a red 5litre VN cruising around melbourne with STOWLN on its number plates and this thing does 10.30 seconds... mind you it started life as a V6 then got a V8 transplanted into it. All I know is its running a Group A twin throttle setup and no forced induction... he keeps his mouth shut when it comes to engine mods, looks pretty stock under te bonnet. Girlfriends dad pulled up next to it then hammered it... this guy was playing around and he sh4t all over the xr6turbo when he decided to go.... nice car that one.... As for a grudge match... if looking4horses aint spending more than twenty grand, I'll give him a run for his money. My mate reckons he can build a 9 second turbo buick 3.8 but it'll cost in the vicinity of 60 grand.... speed costs money... how fast do you wanna go....how fat is your wallet???

just a quick note.... while I like C.O.M.E racing products... I'm afraid they've fallen into the marketing trap.... While churning out great sounding engines and making good bucks, their stroker kit for boost applications on the buick can only take 10psi boost and then it conks out.... pretty nasty considering it can cost you 6 grand for a complte engine

^^^That sucks, if I was spending $6k on an engine rebuild specifically for boost, I'd want to be able to throw at least 20psi at it.

As for the VN getting written off, it's a perfect example of why people who aren't familiar with the VN shouldn't be allowed to drive them without special training from someone who knows their ****.

mate dont say that... my ego might get the better of me and make me spend my house money on the bloody thing lol.... as for your wallet being plenty fat, are you willing to spend upwards of 60 grand on a VN??? I was looking to go high 8's cos I wanted the australia's quicketst V6 title but after some events I had a reality check. High tens are one thing, 9's are a different ball game....hell... a whole different ball park. I am confident of of 11's on a mildly strengthened block etc but for 9's you you need to spend 20 grand just on making sure your block can handle the 35 odd psi needed to get you there. your looking at a custom tailshaft, custom diff, custom auto box, custom everything. Now I'm gonna be spending around 20-25 grand and not making any excuses but I started this thing out to be a tack weapon, so no locked diff, no monster turbo no intercooler... and most enssential of all NO two speed powerglide.... That being said, I'll give you a run for your money... word to ya mutha lol
