is it as easy as taking the old one out and going to spotlight and getting getting new stuff and cutting it to the shape.what sort of glue should be used?has anyone done this before?.i would like to do this myself rather than go to an interior shop.i want to change it from plum carpet to a white colour.

Not quite that simple. It does take quite alot of patience and perseverance to get it right because of the shape of the floor pan. I have not had much to do with it myself but i know a couple of people that have. If you do want to go that way you will also need some sort of underlay which you should be able to get from spotlight as well. Personally i would consider finding a moulded carpet the colour you want from ebay or such places. I just did a quick search on ebay and found they are selling for around the 170 - 250 mark. If you do go the way of doing it yourself let us know of your progress it would be interesting to see the final result to.
Good luck

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer?
Understeer is when the driver is scared.
Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.

I am not sure what the material is for the underlay i just asked for underlay to be used in a car. Usually the underlay is glued to the carpet but not to the actual car. I would probably use an aerosol contact adhesive.
