from what ive herd you need to but concave type l.e.ds to disperce the light better.but what i am asking is how do i remove the gauge cluster so i can get to the l.e.ds?.id like to be able to do this without removing the whole dash boad if possible.if anyone has done this before and knows the process of doing it.it would be much apreciated.

Right the first place to start is to remove the facia and switch clusters. To do this there a 4 screws, two under the switch clusters and two on the under side of the dash board aboce the instuments. Once you have removed these screws the facia should come away from the dash you will then have to remove the wiring to the back of the switch clusters. Now these plugs should be easy to remove if done correctly. There will be little locking tab on each of the plugs that you must push in to be able to remove the plug. Once the plugs are disconnected remove the facia and switchs. Now there should be two screws, one on either side, holding the instrument cluster in. Remove these. Now it should just be a matter of carefully easing the cluster out. If it is a stage 3 cluster (has the computer read out at the bottom) there will be a little plug on the underside of the cluster to remove. Now with a bit of patients and persistence you should be able to remove it with out removeing the steering wheel.
Now just a question are you replacing the standard bulb with led's are you?? If so could you please let us know how it goes and how you did it. Also if any of this confuses you let me know and i can either explain it better or provide pictures for you. Good Luck |
What's the difference between understeer and oversteer? Understeer is when the driver is scared. Oversteer is when the passenger is scared. |

thats awsome info man thanks.yeah thats correct im going to replace the clear bulb..im guessing its clear/white.and replace it with a blue bulb/l.e.d.,(depending on what fits)..so that the blue will shine through the green on the guages making purple..hopfully. i think i understand but if some pics arnt to much trouble that would be great too
il keep you up to date on my progress. |

blue leds in the back look sick and the hardest part is getting the cluster out if its your first time . just a tip when installing it again its alot easier to fit the plugs before putting the metal clip and 8mm bolt back in place. |

What are the metal clips you mention?? I have never seen them and the only plug you have to plug is in the stage 3 instrument cluster for the trip computer?? Please explain..... |

I don't have any clip or 8mm bolt... And I've pulled the LVL3 cluster out on the VN Calais a few times for bulb changes aswell as changing the guage fascia. |

are u sayin that we are wrong cause if this is the case ... my friend maybe u should of stuck to streetcomm's? I'v been workin on vn-vp's and lexan's for at least ten years, now this little clip that holds ya instament cluster in is rubbish its realy very simple..UNDO THE SCREWS AND GENTLY PULL the cluster will slide out now .....
To put bak cluster simply PUSH BAK IN GENTLY AND THEN DO THE 4 SCREWS UP ... were does this clip come into play??????????? m8 I dont understand the need to go around and basicly say we dont know what we are sayin!!!! like I said maybe they made them different in queensland ?? WHO KNOWS but this is starting to get on my goat a bit!! |

yeh but its alot easier to do with the switches removed, and did i ever say that yous dont know anything?. maybe i should stick to being a real mechanic instead of a forum junkie. so what you are saying is true but its easiest to take the switches out with the 8mm bolt and holding bracket. |
