Its not a cable clutch is it, they are fairly heavy. Tried quick take off in a ute with very tight cable clutch and it was fairly hard! Its not unnormal for it to be hard yes. Grinding noise is more of a prob tho! should be quiet as a mouce, or the normal "click into gear" noise... when exactly does it do it? last time i heard grinding noises from a gearbox it blew up! was a bloody long walk 2

if it grinds into gear the synchros are gone, there is gearbox fluid but is not usually the problem since it is not generally refillable, sounds like a cable clutch mine is the same although mine is a heavy duty clutch, its the heaviest that it can go without having a "pressurised clutch". like 2000punds or something not sure on the value but yeah its normal most vn's have a stiff clutch anwyays

sorry about that sweet (im just starting out with cars lol) but the manuals dont have a dipstick like the autos do (going by the gregorys manual) there should be a filler plug and a drain plug on the side of the manual box. the correct level is when the fluid level is at or slightly bellow the filler plug. dont know if that helps
