When you say the tranny selector is loose, do you mean the handle is physically loose, or the shaft or just the thing that lists PRNDD21?

If it's the handle, just nip up the screws.
If it's the shaft...try to work out what has snapped or is about to snap and pray you can get it to the garage before it does let go.
If it's just the surround, pop the cover off and re-align it, a couple of bits of blu-tak will hold it in place nicely.

If the selector is okay, but the shifts are sloppy as hell...a fluid change MAY help, a fully tranny service would be a better option (and cheaper than replacing the tranny).

if a gear shifter in a vn is loose, superglue it. my mate complained about this a few months ago and the only option was to superglue it for the fact that it gets loose like a prostitutes va*ina when played with to much or reefed on. can you get a pic?

Cheers,
Nodg.

Still think it would b easier and (cheaper) to replace the shifter with a good 2nd hand from the wreckers!

Depends if you want to do it yourself a transmission service should cost as little as $50 to get the oil, filter and new sump gasket.

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer?
Understeer is when the driver is scared.
Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.
