From what iv heard no, only a small gain in throttle response. Im planning on doing it, and taking off my cai and reverting back to stock and "test" it, then add cai, V* t/b and KN panel and feeling the differance... |

Unless you're running a seriously modified engine there's no advantage in peak power/torque by upgrading the throttle body.
It will change the shape of the power curve, but will not make the peak any higher. The reason for this is that the stock t/b doesn't get maxxed out, even at W.O.T. By increasing the diameter of the t/b, you increase the rate of change of the AREA of the throttle opening. I could probably generate a mathematical function for anyone who is interested in seeing the exact relationship to it. This makes it feel more powerful at low throttle openings, but by the time you're at about 75% W.O.T. you are already maxxed out.
It's a worthwhile upgrade for forced induction setup, or heavily modified engines, but for a stock engine, it's probably not the most cost effective upgrade, but still nice to have. |

So it pretty much gives you more response at low rpm then? And the differance in accleration between 75% and 100% is nothing? Best thing about it for me is i can get one for free... dont you just love mates who are mechanics!

No...not always at low RPM, it's an increase at low throttle openings.
For anyone else who is confused W.O.T stands for Wide Open Throttle (a nicer way of saying foot-on-the-floor) |
