Well...the back end of my suspension went in (got photo's for the write up while I was at it).
The front was a different story. I'm stuck.
Trying to do it the way the book says I get through to trying to knock the tie rod end bolt out of the strut base plate assembly, and it won't budge.
I tried soaking it with penetrene, I tried a wheel puller, three different hammers and a brick. The whole time it just sat there laughing at me.
How the phuck am I meant to get that out? I know that some people here have done their own front suspensions, if ANYONE can help me with this I'd be really happy. Because at the moment, I've got this really nice back end, with a really wobbly front end. I've got all the right tools, I've got all the space I need, and the skills to match, but for the life of me I can't get this sucker to budge.
Anyone got any ideas?
Cheers, Mouce

c if this helps m8 this is from the ellery's it says loosen stud nut and free the stud taper in the spindal using holden special tool9A-10. Did u loosen the tie rod end lock nut 1/4 of a turn?? when I did my power steering rack I had the same problem... Dont hit it with a hammer the impact can shim the spindle (even if u use protection lol) I know you proberly done all this already but it workd 4 me u may juust have 1 stubborn s.o.b tierod!!! oh and make sure u get the right tool 4 this I got mine from the major holden repairers in perth .. about $40 the normal wheel puller just wont cut it .. ;) |

hahaha well mouce looks as though sweet has done it.... I still dont advise beating the sh1ta out of your tie rod end ..Its a bit of a senitive place on the car and if anything goes wrong well ..there's a few $$$$ down the drain due to inpatience ... but we all know your not like that mouce!!! a bit of lubricant ( or several in sweet's case lol) wont go astray but with the right puller its pops off a peice of p1ss! |

mouce, what i did with mine is i undone the swaybar that is attached to the strut tower, then i jacked the car up a high as possible, put a set of spring compressors on then pushed in the shock and put a fair bit of weight onto the hub and presto the whole strut assembly just popped out underneath the guard. although getting it back in was a right real pain in the ass. |
