hey i was just hunting around on eBay as i do and came across looking up fuel tanks.

i found this one guy who custom makes drop tanks for commodores VN-VS (best suited).

he will make it up for me in about 2-3 weeks he told me, should look good. When i came across it i though what is it i really look for in a drop tank the extra fuel compacity (not likely) or having it hang down like the V8's and look really cool.

I'll post some pics when i get it installed.

this is the address just in case anyone else happens to be on the lookout for one

I'll show you the Rick James cell. It's superfreaky!.

They look good leebo. I think they would look awesome without a body kit as the body kit may serve as a distraction. Once again, i do like it

i agree with totally that fellas , the only use could be as a stone guard for dirt roads or that classic 70's style, i hope they end making one for the 80 L tank, so i can get one , at 2.3mm thick thats a bit of protection at least...

2.3 mm is the smallest you can go legally for a fuel tank made from ali! other wise there is to much swelling and cause the tank to rupture!

sorry to interupt your topic leebo , but ive had a holed tank a few times , and at the moment im not able to fill the tank to full , as i have a leak near the top of the tank . would something like 2.3mm ali be too easy to get through , with repeated stoning on a gravel road. etc. ? any advice please mate. ... cheers.

yeah im completely open to your opinions otherwise i wouldn't have posted it but it's not a actual fuel holding tank im looking at it like a cover it still uses the normal 63litre tank undernaeth its a cover that goes over it.

and your right in that it serves absolutially no purpose other than just for looks.

i do like the look of it on the cars and it does not have fuel behind that 2.3mm thick metal which is safer.

the only reason i have posted this and not just gone a brought it is that i wanted to ask you guys and gils your opinion on not about it's stuctual side of things but would you think after going up a few dirt roads it would look like the dogs breakfast cos it's only thin and espcially being pollished.

i dont think this will be a prob to much in that my normal fuel tank has not a single dint of chip in the paint surface.

anyways let me know what you think. cheers leebo

i made a mistake there 2.4mm , mate they look good . i want one ! only the rear drivers side tyre, tends to hole my tank . i think the tuff tank cover would stop this, or ill have to go back to misguided mudflaps..... anyway sounds like a good deal.

just wide stockies on the back , the main issue is that the 80 L tank hangs down right behind the tyre and with me living on a course gravel road , the tank gets sprayed with rocks all the time. lucky i have gas.
not sure about the 63 L tank , but i can see no problem with the tuff tank being damaged , any more than a genuine drop tank.... if you buy one , will you fit it yourself ?

got a v6 , with optional 80 L tank , fe2 sus. and climate.

hopefully you will get them in the next couple of days . i posted them last wednesday . and they can take up to 6 business days to arrive.

more than likely there will be a pickup notice in your letter box and then pay the postage at the post office when you pick up the strips. ill see if i can track them.....

okay i didnt know the V6 had the option i thought it was just the 8's but now i know eyy.

The reason i wanted it is because it would finish of the look of
my car being a V8 once i get my exhaust tip on and Tuff tank.

cos to the untrained eye my car look like one.

check it out if you wana see how it look just now.
i will update when i spray my bumpers and other things bit by bit.
