Roflmfao Nodg I would really love to see your stats! I have a stock manual vn sedan and have wasted countless Auto vn's also every VT auto i have come against. Auto will never be as quick as a manual unless you put 3K into it then maybe you will have a chance but only a slight one :)

I dont agree! 3k in a g/b dont matter what it is , it will fly!! I own a auto and can drive my auto just as good as any manual , but on that note can drive a manual as good as any 1 here! All nodg is stating is that the auto g/b is quiker of the mark! doesnt mean its quiker all round! Put it this way you got a manual and I got a auto BFD! As long as the car does its job, realy who's complaining! roflmfao |

ive owned both, and ive gotta hand it to the old auto, the manual chews fuel (ok, so i chew fuel when i drive the manual) but the autos quick off the line and economic for a large v6. Must say, city driving in the auto is MUCH better |

my stats? 0-100 in 7 seconds in a banged out auto v6, and my vq v8 is just as quick as my mates vp ss with a 5 speed. dont feel special cause you beat a vt, there the slowedt factory v6 made available. |
Cheers, Nodg. |

Boys, boys, boys.
Manuals are for heroes who want to look like fully sick racers on the streets... often a new shifter is about the extent of their mods aswell.
Autos are for laying down serious quarter mile times and a worked auto is going to be superior to a worked manual in just about everyway- manual valve body anyone? I rest my case.
Sorry for weighing into this pathetic little argument and you seriously can flame away- look at the high hp, low quarter mile cars and answer me this- auto or manual? |

people who own manuals think they have this big launch from the start over the auto and can change gears quicker, you can change just as quick and launch just as fast in an auto versus a manual, if you really know how to drive its accelerating at speed, around corners, dropping gears etc where the manual shines cause of its ratios and pure ability to change to what gear you want then and there..... straight line performance? there identical |

there is no way an auto will beat my manual, shiftkited or not. i blow vs auto's with shift kits, the only thing an auto will have over me would be if i over revved my car and lost all traction, u auto guys dont have to worry but lose of traction, as your slug-a-matics wont let you(loose traction) |

now this topic has been taken out of context, i thought we were talking about street cars, how many of you auto guys have a drag-spec trans....... fu ck all.... no-one.....u wouldnt be able to drive it on the street even if you did. thats where a manual takes over, for street-use, gear selection, speed adjustment, burnouts, power launching..... allround better and more reliable

theres burnouts on stock suspension with 205 tyres and a single legger, then theres a burnout with lowered suspension, wide wheels and an lsd. when i had 215's on my calais it would skip sideways into a donut if i wasnt careful. now with the new shocks and wide wheels it merely spins for a few seconds and takes off. its all about the setup most people have crappy branded skinny wheels, non lsd etc... the auto has its advantages over the manual and the manual has advantages over the auto. |

nicely said nodg, now for you guys that say "shift kitted autos, with high stall converters are the beans" thats cool, i'll keep my stock T5 gearbox, and spend the money you would have spent on your trans, on my engine and still blow you outta the water....bahahahaha |

I have an auto in my vn. But to spend the money on converting I would rather spend it on the engine or other mods. I reckon keep what you have. |

the new shocks should help it to skip out side ways, as it would be stiffer with less bodyroll. the wide tyres would be the only thing helping with traction
