so pretty much everyone wants their 6 to sound like a V8 right?
i have a standard berlina exhaust system and mi dad took off my end exhause ages ago and i was wondering wat else i can change to get a better rumble kind of sound. When its nice and cold in the mornings mi car does rumble a bit but i want that rumble all the time.

mi bro's S pack has 3inch exhaust piping all the way and i dont want to go and spend so much money to do that. his is extremely loud, but more of a drone then a V8 sound. with extractors he rekons it would sound like a V8.

is the only way to get a better sound is to replace the whole system, get extractors etc. or can i just get like from the second muffler to the end of the exhaust bigger piping? will that help?
cheers

theres many ways to make it sound loud, many of them are illegal unfortunatly. Best way to make it sound like a V8 is to have one man, but yes exhuast and extractors will make it roar. Unless your willing to pay it wont sound that mean. legally.

Boost me, and double clutch me so i can get my. Loss of Traction!

I have what i believe is one of the nicest sounding v6's i've ever heard. I have a 2.5" system from the cat back, with a single hotdog muffler before the twin 2.5" tailpipe. It sounds completely different to all other v6's i've heard, but isn't a v8 sound. It is more of a BMW/Nissan 6 cylinder sound, but is very nice and quite loud non the less. My car is a manual though, which seems to help a bit...

Illegal, um, no baffles in muffler/s, same with cat. Dumping the exhaust. All that stuff will do is make the car louder anyway, won't give it a nicer note... Thats pretty much it, but you WILL get caught if you do anything like that. Plus if you get a decent system you will end up with a better sound.

hey mate..ive got pacemaker AUScar style extracters (thermotech heat wrapping) to 2 1/2 high flow cat to redback straight through muffler all piping 2 1/2 mandrel bent with a nice chrome tip.. gives it a nice rumble..sounds better then a v8 as it revs more..quite expensive setup but power climbed dramatically and the sound is magnificent.. 3 inch is way to big with standard headers.. if your brother is going to get extracters i'd advise AUScar style as the primaries are bigger which alows for exhaust porting and gives a nicer sound.

I don't know much about the six so I am speaking out of place but I would have thought 2.5inch would have been as big as you'd want to go on a minor modified six?

I've got a 2.5inch single with extractors, mandrel bends, highflow muffler and cat on a fairly minor modified V8 and it doesn't give any problems (the car is camed with headwork, new intake manifold, throttle body, tune... nothing on the top end is stock).

MILD 50 is right. 3" on a V6 is way too big. As i said, i've got a 2.5" system with a single muffler, and it is by far as big as you would want. Anything bigger and you will start losing power...
