Hey guys, i have VP Calais (practically same as Vn) the engine seized on me and i was wondering if someone could tell me to get it fixed at. i live in Northern suberbs of Melbourne. I eventually want to do a few things to it . i already have stage 2 shift kit in it. So any info on where to fix and a few cheap upgrades appreciated.

g'day m8 ok firstly ,, the cheapst option and most practical would be 2 replace the engine !!the more expensive option is to get a full rebuild and while youve got it in bits a port and polish, some forged pistons ect... this would be the best option if you are thinking of super charging it or putting a fat arse turbo on!!! ;) and as driveacarsideways asked wat caused it 2 seize???

well I'm not a salesperson lol but I do have a mate that can help you out.... he's currently building my car so obviously I trust him. His shop is in cheltenham, next to the moorabin airport... but anyway my money is on sourcing another engine.... low k's if possible and getting it reconditioned, change every seal and gasket and then drop it in.... should only cost u a bit over 1 grand i'd say.... also this guy will do mates rates if you say I sent you.... good luck

If the engine seized from over heating then you will have done a lot of damage. I dought it could be saved and probly not worth but that said it could be possible.

Have you considered replacing it with a newer engine in like the ecotec or s/c v6?

i was thinking about putting a vs engine or vt suppercharged engine in but then thought a whole lot of other stuff will need to be changed. Now just want car back on the road and then buy something newer halfway throught the year cause i want V8 or nice turbo.

I rang 3 places yesterday for prices for a enging, for a reco engine installed i got price from 1850 to like 2400 i can go buy another car for that much. for a second hand motor i heard its like around 900

But still no idea what to do

I meant a bit over a grand to purchase the engine get it reconditioned and dropped in..... you can pick up an ok series 1 engine for as little as $100 believe it or not. Parts and labour to recondition it and dropp it in are a helluva lot more expensive in general tho

When putting in a later model ecotech or VT s/c, what else needs to be changed other than the computer?

g/b comes with engine along with wiring loom, make changes to fit. Diff? why...the standard one would cope. suspension? why. I don't want a whole vt. and the vs came with a s/c anyway. It would be harder to change to a V8.

now you realy are making me laugh..... do the math m8!! and 2 fix a few things up here , wiring looms dont alway come with engines, neither does the ecm !that you will need, also changes to the diff are needed cause belive it or not the standard vn diff's arent all there craked up to be... not just that you will need a tail shaft adjustment, either a new 1 or at the least wieghted and rebalanced and unless youve got a good m8 or get a lucky buy the gearbox's don't come with the motor and if it does it usualy means you pay alot more!!and if you think you can just slap in a vs with the s/c think again there is alot to consider but its all entirley upto 1ns preferance in what they want! p.s I never said anything about changing to a v8 !!!!
