There was an intriguing story about the VN about 4 months after it was released. Ford secretly bought several of them, and took them apart to find out how Holden raided the international parts bin. They were desperate, as their "Edsel," the EA Falcon couldn't have been any more on the nose if they tried. Interesting to note, that when Holden screw up, they learn. Ford are only just learning now. Not so long ago, I worked in an Avis franchise, so I got to drive VE Commodores, WM Statesmans, BF XR6s and Fairlanes. The gap is closing, but they still have some way to go before they catch up.

Worse than the classics being stolen or written off, are those that someone has made ugly. I don't care what anyone thinks, stretching something like a VL group A is vandalism! A stretch Statesman, Caprice, Fairlane or LTD will all look good, but stretching a classic is a stupid idea. The two strangest stretch limos I've seen yet are a '73 VW Beetle and an E-Type Jaguar (He should have been lynched for stretching a Jag. Regardless of what you think of Jags, this was like drawing a moustache and glasses on the Mona Lisa)

HSV VN SVLE's are pretty rare. Only 110 made, 40 being manual. Only available in Maranello Red. And from what i've been told by a holden collector is that the manuals came out with the t5g gearbox (as seen in the walkinshaws) and autos had a revised gearbox. Pretty nice cars...

^^^ also apparently 6 out of the factory with a sunroof. The sedans came out standard with the 5 speed and an option of an auto where as the wagon were auto only. The auto in the SVLE had slightly tweaked shift points. The manual from the info I have were just a standard t5.

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer?
Understeer is when the driver is scared.
Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.

Strangest VN I've ever seen was a factory Berlina wagon "Mule." Factory mules are prototypes for particular experiments. This one resembled a stretched Berlina wagon with a very weird roofline. Wagon rear doors were stretched by about 300mm, and the roof had these strange side bits jutting out of it, as if they tried to "pump out" the roof for more shoulder room.
