Hey guys i need a bit of help again so here goes the subject is fuel tanks (BORING!!!)

I as u know had a leaking fuel tank for a while which i couldn't fix so i have taken it off and am beginning to fit an 80L drop tank that came off a VP 5L.

I have stripped all the black ****ty paint off with paint stripper and it looks great and shinny like alloy.
If i don't paint it again will it rust?

Also i don't have the straps can i modify the 63L one's?

I want to avoid taking it off gain as it is being held up by a trolley jack because it took me like 5hrs to get 3 hoses connected

I'll show you the Rick James cell. It's superfreaky!.

If you leave it without a coating it will rust yes. The best thing to use is a wax or polish on it but that will require maintenance which would mean removing the tank. Alternatively you can put a couple of coats of clear paint over it. You will get stone chips and cracking but it will give a bit of a protective coating.

You could modify the 63l straps but if you are going to that trouble i would be just making some new one's up.
Let us know how you go

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer?
Understeer is when the driver is scared.
Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.

firstly (dont leave the tank uncoated) if you got the bucks your could get it chromed for around 150 but other wise just a fresh coat of paint will protect it! also buy the straps , dont make them up unless your a qualified engineer that can give and sighn your own reports...(other wise its a defect straight up) not just that you would save your self alot of time and bucks down the track......

Cheers guys 4 the feedback

i have installed it and here it is
http://s495.photobucket.com/albums/rr320/leebovn/?action=view¤t=droptankmine.jpg

I decided to modify the straps under the rear end where you can't see it.panted them flat black.

As for the tank no i don't wana take it off again unless absolutely necessary what a bad job that was.
I will nick up to Autobarn and get a can of clear coat as i cant afford to chrome it.

I may have to do it a few times in the future but doesn't worry me

thanks again guys
