hi there ok well here it goes being my stupid self i kinda ran sideways into a gutter and have no body damage besides a crack in the metal behind my passenger side rear wheel it is where the metal connects to my base of my car is it possible to weld it up or does it need a pro to fix it ?
you could weld it up ! But on saying that you have to be xtra careful!! B4 you do any welding take a square body measurement to see if you did more than just a crak! Now if you wanna weld it up I would suggest taking your fuel tank out ( just to be safe , these things can go bang big time, remember its not the petrol itself its the fumes!) Also dissconnect your battery and to be on the safe side your ecm and your coil! Use a mig welder not a arc welder as they tend to cause a voltage spike through the car! Use a very low heat and pulse it on ! Dont just slap the weld on or you will either burn throught the steel or warp the sh1t out of it! If you get stuk doin it pm me and I'll give you a full run down, I'm a first class welder !
i did that to my vn 3 years ago, and if you leave it too long the body starts to bend and crack uncontrolably, just pay a boilermaker 50 bucks and theyll weld it up for you
lol ok i get it lol its kewl thanks for the posts i will keep you's posted bout it. it is something to do with my swaybar's connection point to my car i am not 100% sure going to get a quote and see wat they can do bout it.. ALSO is it illegal to have 17" chomes on a vn commodore ?? thnxs guys much appreciated :)
I dont think it illegal unless the tyre wall is hanging outside of the tyre arch?? Not sure but that was my understanding! If youve cracked were it connects the sway bar dont x your fingers to much, alot of places prolly wont want to touch it for saftey reasons!
i dunno ill check it out 2day after work and hopefully all is good i can still drive it the crack isnt getting any worse and a had a mate that knows abit about car come round and he said that ppl here will do it for bout $50-$150 still really unsure of what is happening but im sure they will fix it up for me :) cheers
thnxs trizo and yeah price isnt to bad hey there approved RAA repair's so i think they know what there doing anywhos ill keep ya's posted and thnxs for the hints cheers
